Maintaining Your Smile’s Alignment
Dentist Green Cove Springs
Comprehensive orthodontic treatments, such as braces or aligners, correct misalignment for a straight smile and even bite. However, the retention phase is crucial after braces are removed to maintain your results. Your final orthodontic outcome depends on wearing your retainer as instructed.
There are a few types of retainers:
- Clear Retainers – Removable, transparent plastic trays that fit over your teeth.
- Traditional Retainers – Removable appliances made of acrylic and wire that sit on the front of your teeth.
- Bonded Retainer – Thin, fixed wires temporarily bonded to the lingual side of the anterior teeth.
Dr. Mohammed Naser will recommend the best retainer for your treatment plan. Keep your retainer clean by brushing it gently with a wet toothbrush and disinfecting it regularly. Avoid hot water to maintain its shape.
