In the rear portion of the upper jaw, the maxillary sinus cavity lies just beyond the jawbone. Often, this cavity is so large that there is insufficient bone to securely place dental implants. When this occurs, our doctor may recommend a sinus lift procedure.

Similar to bone grafting, a sinus lift involves the surgical application of donor tissue to augment the existing bone structure. Depending on your specific needs, this may be performed at the time of implant placement or in advance, allowing for full healing before the implants are placed. In either case, sinus grafting ensures that you have enough strong bone in your upper jaw to securely anchor your dental implants.
